What is the difference between a Swedish Massage and a Deep Tissue Massage?
Swedish is a combination of light to firm gliding strokes. A full body massage can be accomplished using these relaxing techniques. Deep Tissue targets deep-layer tissue, and is considered a spot treatment. Deep tissue treatments may require additional appointments if there are multiple areas of the body that need work.
How should I prepare for my massage session?
Wearing comfortable clothing similar to sportswear is recommended for your scheduled appointment.
Is it normal to feel sick after getting a massage?
Some people may experience headaches, nausea, dizziness, fatigue, or other flu-like symptoms. A professional massage can lead to some or all of the above side effects that will last for one or two days after the massage. During a massage, your body releases toxins into your bloodstream. The lymphatic system is more active after a massage session while it attempts to clear excess toxins that were trapped in the fascia system of the body.
Is it normal to feel sore after a massage?
You may feel sore after a massage, which is normal. It may be mild to moderate and should subside within a couple of days. Clients may experience some stiffness or pain after a massage treatment that works deeper layers, but it is very important to communicate with your massage therapist when things hurt and if any soreness or pain you experience is outside your comfort range.
I have a recent injury. Can I get a massage to help with the pain caused by that injury?
If you have had a recent injury, it is best to speak with your physician and get their professional opinion. If our massage modalities are suitable for your injury, it is recommended to wait a minimum of 48 hours before coming in for an appointment.
Can I work out right after a massage?
It is recommended to wait a minimum of 24 hours before working out after receiving a massage. Working out within 24 hours of your massage may increase the risk of injury during your workout.
I've had cold sores on my lips. Will this be an issue for lip blushing?
Patients prone to cold sores/fever blisters should take an anti-viral prior to receiving lip blushing, as prescribed by your medical professional.
My Eyebrows are so dark right after my Permanent Make-Up Procedure. Will they stay like this?
Don't worry! This is only temporary and is normal. The ink will be the darkest during this time and start to settle throughout the healing process. Below is the healing process stages:
Day 1: The brows will appear slightly thicker and the color will look much stronger and maybe warmer due to the redness caused in the skin.
Day 2-4: The brows will appear 2 shades darker from when you left the clinic and the color may seem a little red still.
Day 6-10: Not all brows go through the flaking process; some clients can't even see the flaking. Brows may look very light and patchy at this stage. The pigment will reappear in nearly all cases.
Day 28-40: Depending on the client, this is the time when you actually start to see the final result. People who heal quickly and young clients can see their final color by the 4-5 week mark, while more mature clients and slower healers may have to wait 6-7 weeks to see the color fully bloom back.
As the months go by, the pigment will appear softer and lighter as it settles under the layers of skin. To protect against fading, use sunscreen and avoid sunbeds. Vitamin C and Glycolic Acid can also contribute to pigment fading.
