I’m Here for You

What is the difference between a Swedish Massage and a Deep Tissue Massage?

Swedish is a combination of light to firm gliding strokes. A full body massage can be accomplished using these relaxing techniques. Deep Tissue targets deep-layer tissue, and is considered a spot treatment. Deep tissue treatments may require additional appointments if there are multiple areas of the body that need work.

How should I prepare for my treatment session?

Wearing comfortable clothing similar to sportswear is recommended for your scheduled appointment. Please bring a mask for COVID-19 Protocols and arrive at your appointment 10 minutes early for check-in.

Is it normal to feel sick after getting a massage?

Some people may experience headaches, nausea, dizziness, fatigue, or other flu-like symptoms. A professional massage can lead to some or all of the above side effects that will last for one or two days after the massage. During a massage, your body releases toxins into your bloodstream. The lymphatic system is more active after a massage session while it attempts to clear excess toxins that were trapped in the fascia system of the body.

Is it normal to feel sore after a massage?

You may feel sore after a massage, which is normal. It may be mild to moderate and should subside within a couple of days. Clients may experience some stiffness or pain after a massage treatment that works deeper layers, but it is very important to communicate with your massage therapist when things hurt and if any soreness or pain you experience is outside your comfort range.

I have a recent injury. Can I get a massage to help with the pain caused by that injury?

If you have had a recent injury, it is best to speak with your physician and get their professional opinion. If our massage modalities are suitable for your injury, it is recommended to wait a minimum of 48 hours before coming in for an appointment.

Can I work out right after a massage?

It is recommended to wait a minimum of 24 hours before working out after receiving a massage. Working out within 24 hours of your massage may increase the risk of injury during your workout.

Is Myofascial Therapy relaxing like other massages?

No. Myofascial Therapy is very interactive between client and therapist. It is unlike most other modalities offered at our facility. It is a combination of manual therapy techniques often used in massage. The technique focuses on pain believed to arise from myofascial tissues that wrap, connect, and support your muscle structures. The focused manual pressure and stretching used in myofascial therapy loosen up restricted movement, leading indirectly to reduced pain. Benefits include increased range of motion and decreased postural deviation. Some clients may feel some discomfort during MFT Therapy treatments. It may take several consecutive sessions to receive desired results. Please speak with your therapist for more information.
